The next few spots include a trip in a boat! To beat the traffic, it seems like quite a few attractions and hotels in Bangkok are now accessible by boat! 🙂 So don’t be surprised if you end up on one or two ferry/ boat rides.

(2) Asiatique

Take the free shuttle boat from Sathorn Pier. Only takes about 10 minutes as you enjoy the breeze as you ride along the river. Loads of restaurants and stalls with thai souvenirs. Also a 60-metre high Sky Wheel on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. A good place to explore with kids in the evening and to have dinner there too.

(3) Icon Siam Shopping Mall

Icon Siam Opening Hours: Daily from 10am to 10pm

Location: 299 Soi Charoen Nakhon 5, Charoen Nakhon Road, Khlong Ton Sai, Khlong San, 10600, Bangkok, Thailand

Take the shuttle boat from Sathorn Pier. Again, another short 10 minute ride and you arrive at Bangkok’s Icon Siam Mall. There is a ‘floating market’ on the ground floor. The ‘Siam Sook’ includes long tail boats and Thai pavilions.

Of course the mall offers 6 floors of shopping and brands like H&M, Uniqlo and even the Japanese Department Store, Takashimaya. The top floor boosts a museum with rooms of Thai antiquities.

(4) Amphawa Floating Market

This floating market is the second most popular one in Bangkok.  A 40 min drive away from Bangkok city, this is a relaxing and educational experience for the kids.

Whilst the floating market itself is not too large, hop onto a long tailed boat as you take in the huts and stalls alongside the river. The trip also includes a pit stop to feed many hungry fish ( bread is sold at a steal!) and a short walk to a temple nearby.
